The Albuquerque Public Schools board approved a three-year contract for new Superintendent Luis Valentino this morning.
Valentino, whom the board selected earlier this month to be the district’s next superintendent starting in July, will earn a $240,000 salary, and will receive medical insurance and a supplemental retirement plan, according to the district.
Valentino will be coming to APS from the San Francisco Unified School District, where he is the superintendent of curriculum and the chief academic officer.
“I am eager to begin the work of transforming APS into a high performing and nationally recognized school district,” Valentino said in an APS press release. Valentino was not in Albuquerque today.
