ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Eight employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory were hospitalized and one was listed in critical condition with burns on Sunday following an accident at an electrical substation, LANL said in a written statement.
Seven of the employees were treated at Los Alamos Medical Center and released, the statement said. The statement did not identify the employees.
The employees were working at an electrical substation at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center at the time of the accident. The cause was under investigation Sunday, the LANL communications and public affairs office said.
Many areas of the Neutron Science Center were expected to remain without power until further notice, the statement said. Employees were encouraged to work from home or catch up on training, it said.
