ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — With many out-of-town visitors expected to show up for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which starts Oct. 1, Mayor Richard J. Berry is asking residents to help with a Saturday community cleanup effort.
“We are asking individuals to join us at the Balloon Museum to do their part tomorrow,” said Berry stated in a news release. “Neighborhoods, groups or organizations are also being called upon to pitch in. Together we can make a difference and clean up our great city.”
City employees will be distributing garbage bags and gloves at the Balloon Museum from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Volunteers can pick up free bags and gloves to participate in the cleanup. Transportation will be available to take volunteers to the surrounding area to pick up litter.
The Albuquerque Balloon Museum is located at 9201 Balloon Museum NE.
