Santa Ana Star Casino kicked off the summer with a change to its gaming floor.

You might have noticed a difference when walking into the casino’s main entrance. Instead of poker tables, guests will now see some bright and shiny new high-limit slot machines. Santa Ana Star Casino decided to relocate its poker table play to the main pit located at the center of the main gaming floor.

The high-limit area offers 47 new games, which include $1, $5 and $10 video poker. Fixtures that encase the area offer some privacy from the general gaming floor. Patrons of the high-limit slots also can enjoy complimentary beverages served in fine glassware, including fruit juices and energy drinks. The area also offers a private restroom, according to the Santa Ana Star Casino website.

The high-limit slot machines might cost a little more to play but the payouts are higher, too. A special feature of the high-limit slots area is a two-level mystery progressive called “Mystery Stacks.” The game is guaranteed to hit by $30,000. The top level of the progressive ranges between $20,000 and $30,000 with the lower level ranges between $500 and $1,199.

Another perk this month is the “Cars & Stripes Giveaway” promotion where players get their chance at their choice of a 2015 Ford Mustang, Edge or Explorer. Patrons earn entries with every 500 points they accrue playing their favorite games now through July 25. The big drawing will be held at 8 p.m. on July 25. Five winners will be selected. Four of those selected will win cash prizes and one will win his or her choice of a 2015 vehicle.

Santa Ana Casino also offers a good time every weekend at its upscale nightclub The Stage. Tonight, expect a packed show featuring one of hottest electronic dance music producers currently on the scene. Dillon Francis, who is known for his huge hit “Get Low,” performs. Doors open at 9 p.m.

A limited amount of tickets are left. Tickets are $39.99 general admission and $100 VIP, plus fees at holdmyticket.com. For more information about Francis and his rise to fame, read the story by Assistant Arts Editor Adrian Gomez at abqjournal.com/607211.

The Stage also recently announced an Aug. 1 show featuring Bakermat. Tickets are $15, plus fees at holdmyticket.com.

“His sets are filled with joy and happiness, and are always melodic,” according to the event’s Facebook page. “Saxophones, flutes, trumpets, Bakermat tries to use them frequently. The combination of these jazz instruments with deep house music is what makes Bakermat’s style unique.”
