ASPEN, Colo. — Police say a hammer-wielding man who robbed an Aspen marijuana store of $11,000 worth of the drug was friends with the employees and known by local authorities.
The Aspen Times reports (http://goo.gl/GYzpia ) the man came into “Stash” on Tuesday afternoon acting like he was a customer, then waited for other customers to leave. Store owner Garrett Patrick says the man approached two employees with a hammer and said “Sorry. I’m just really desperate now.”
The man then went behind the counter and put a large jar of marijuana into a bag. He escaped an employee’s attempt to keep him from running from the store.
Police say they know who the man is, but they haven’t released his name. Patrick says the man is friends with his employees, is a local and “everyone knows him.”
