Woman gives birth to baby girl at Kingman tire shop

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Phoenix woman and her baby girl are in good health after a tire shop birth in Kingman.

The Kingman Daily Miner reports (http://bit.ly/1IQQvXH) a man walked into the store on Sunday and said his wife was in labor. He asked where the nearest hospital was, and quickly asked for an ambulance instead.

Pregnant 25-year-old nursing assistant Melissa Smith-Keel was bringing lunch to her husband at AAAA Tire when she heard someone say the baby was being born.

She stepped forward to help Alyssa Garcia deliver her baby, and says she used her finger to clear the baby’s airway until paramedics arrived, handed her a suction bulb, and cut the umbilical cord.

Smith-Keel went to the hospital to visit Garcia and the baby girl, who was named Kimberly Melissa.
