SANTA FE, N.M. — Chad Ginsburg doesn’t tend to reminisce too much.

He’s had a great career with heavy metal band CKY, but it’s time to move on and do his own thing.

“I’ve been living in a rehearsal room and sleeping in there with my cat,” he says. “I’ve put it all on the line. It’s rock and roll for me.”

Ginsburg is gearing up for a tour in support of his debut solo album, “Rock n Roll Alibis.” He will stop at Launchpad tonight to perform and he can’t wait to be back in Albuquerque.

“I’ve played quite a few places and the city has always supported my music,” he says. “I’m traveling in a van now and we’re road doggin’ it. It’s been 15 years since I toured in a van, but I’ve got my feet on the ground and ready to rock.”

If rock isn’t your thing, The Cooperage will host singer-songwriter Willy Porter on Sunday, Aug. 30. Porter is touring in support of his latest album, “Human Kindness,” which he produced.

While we’re on singer-songwriters, the Santa Fe Opera will be the place that welcomes Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell on their latest tour. The legendary duo came together for a second project.

Of course, it’s still summer and the festivals are going strong. Isleta Amphitheater welcomes Slipknot. Read about their touring companions Lamb of God and Bullet For My Valentine.
