Friday: Matt Dominguez smacked a two-run homer in the eighth inning and an RBI double in the ninth as Colorado Springs scored eight late runs to take an 8-2 victory over the host Isotopes.
Albuquerque grabbed a 2-0 lead in the sixth inning when Roger Bernadina hit an RBI ground-rule double and later scored on Trevor Story’s single. Isotopes starter Eddie Butler worked 6 1/3 shutout innings and chipped in a pair of hits. But the Sky Sox ambushed relievers Tommy Kahnle and Brooks Brown for eight runs in the final two innings to take the series-tying win.
This and that: Albuquerque Isotopes Director of Field Operations Casey Griffin received a Presidential Commendation from the Pacific Coast League for his excellence in sports turf management for the 2015 season.
Transactions: Kahnle rejoined the Isotopes Friday from Colorado, which selected the contract of ‘Topes RHP Jason Gurka. To make room for Gurka on the 40-man roster, the Rockies designated ‘Topes LHP Ken Roberts for assignment.
