A quick start from post 6 helped Alis Jumpn score a wire-to-wire, 1 1/4-length victory in the $55,000 Balloon City Stakes for Quarter Horse fillies and mares at The Downs at Albuquerque on Saturday.
Ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu, Alis Jumpn made her 400-yard trip in :19.573. Adam Tapia trained the 5-year-old daughter of the Chicks Beduino stallion Jumpn for owner Eloy Humberto Pena.
Alis Jumpn was bred in Texas by Don J. Apodaca. The mare was coming off of a second-place finish to Ill Stop The World in the July 26, $35,000 La Plata Stakes (G3) at SunRay Park near Farmington, New Mexico.
Alis Jumpn has won 12 of 21 outs, and the $33,000 winner’s share of the Balloon City Stakes purse pushed her earnings to $230,910. A three-time stakes winner, she ran fourth in last year’s Balloon City Stakes.
This Candys Awesome, the 3-5 favorite in the field of eight, ran second and was followed by AJ Hardwood, Lady Secret Dash, Ms Fast First Prize, California Gurl, CD Tight Rope, and Fast Dreams.

The clocking broke by 56/100ths of a second the previous mark set by Hehasspirit on August 13, 2014. Hollywood Icon was trained by Miguel Hernandez and ridden by Elvin Gonzalez for owner Judge Lanier Racing.
