ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Zachary Benjamin has joined the Jewish Federation of New Mexico as its new executive director.
Benjamin will be responsible for implementing new strategies for communication, development, donor appreciation, and outreach, with the goal of improving Jewish life throughout New Mexico.
“I’m thrilled to join the Jewish Federation of New Mexico as its executive director bringing new opportunities for Jewish New Mexicans to interact with each other and the broader community,” said Benjamin.
Benjamin previously worked for the National Association of Realtors, a non-government real-estate organization, based in Chicago. As manager of international market development, he was head of Asia-Pacific and Middle East operations, overseeing bilateral partnerships in 13 countries. He was also responsible for creating and implementing the Association’s Asia-Pacific regional strategic plan and managing its various global volunteer programs and boards.
Prior to working for the National Association of Realtors, Benjamin built cultural competence programs for hospital executives across the nation as the education and membership program specialist for the Institute for Diversity in Health Management at the American Hospital Association in Chicago.
He attended Northwestern University in Chicago where he received a bachelor of science degree with a concentration in media and politics and Chinese language and culture. He also has a masters of arts degree from Columbia University in New York with a focus on regional studies including East Asia and Chinese foreign policy. Benjamin is currently a candidate for a doctor of philosophy degree in communications at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
