7:16 p.m.
Officials have canceled the Special Shape Glowdeo due to high winds. They said the fireworks show will go on as planned.

7:05 p.m.
Balloon Fiesta officials have switched the flag from green to yellow signaling tonight’s Glowdeo is on hold.

“The winds have increased to 10 mph on the field which is too fast for special shapes to inflaite,” officials said. “The winds are expected to decrease shortly.”

6:10 p.m.
Officials are flying the green flag signaling tonight’s Glowdeo is a go.

5:08 p.m.
The Canon balloon has inflated on the field in advance of tonight’s Glowdeo.

4:30 p.m.
Winds on the field at Balloon Fiesta Park are 3 knots, according to Balloon Fiesta officials.

4:15 p.m.
Winds are running 18 mph at the Albuquerque Sunport as of 3:52 p.m.

11:20 a.m.

9:14 a.m.
Balloons are floating in the air south of Balloon Fiesta Park as competitors attempt to navigate to targets on the field.

8:45 a.m.
Balloons are now drifting south from Balloon Fiesta Park and touching down in neighborhoods west of Jefferson. The field remains open for completion including the key grab until about 10 a.m. as balloons also touch down across the city.

8:17 a.m.
All the special shape balloons have launched and officials are preparing the field for today’s flying competition.

7:47 a.m.
Most balloons taking off from Balloon Fiesta Park are heading north.

7:06 a.m.
Special shapes balloons are starting to lift off the field.

6:55 a.m.
Special shapes balloons are inflating on the field in preparation of today’s mass ascension.

6:40 a.m.
Balloon Fiesta officials are flying the green flag signaling today’s Special Shape Rodeo is a go.

6:35 a.m.
Balloon Fiesta officials said during the pilot’s briefing that winds are light and variable today, and the temperature is 44 degrees on the field.

6:23 a.m.
Thursday Dawn Patrol has launched.

6:18 a.m.
The pilot’s briefing is underway where officials will announce if today’s Special Shape’s Rodeo will launch.

6:03 a.m.
The American Flag balloon is inflating on the field.

5:58 a.m.
Eastbound traffic on Alameda is backed up past the Rio Grande into Balloon Fiesta Park.

Getting there

Traffic is expected to be heavy on I-25 northbound and southbound, and on Tramway and Alameda approaching Balloon Fiesta Park. Check our Balloon Fiesta traffic map for current traffic speeds.

Park & Ride is always running. Here are the locations:

East Side

– Hoffmantown Church – 8888 Harper Road NE, Park in the northeast lot only.
– Cliff’s Amusement Park – 4800 Osuna Road NE near San Mateo and I-25.
– Coronado Mall – 6600 Menaul Boulevard NE, park in the southwest corner near San Pedro.

West Side

– Intel (southern parking lot) – Highway 528/Rio Rancho Blvd. Enter the Park & Ride lot at either Westside Blvd. or 21st street and follow the signs.
– Cottonwood Mall (northeast parking lot) – located at 10000 Coors Bypass near Seven Bar Loop.

Same-day purchase at Park & Ride locations. Balloon Park admission and service charge is included.
