Party on, Parrot Heads: Imbibe at a pre-concert party at The Downs, as tailgating isn’t allowed at Isleta Amphitheater

Key West is coming to Albuquerque and The Downs Racetrack & Casino is ready to get you in the Margaritaville mood this Tuesday.

Jimmy Buffett and The Corral Reefer Band are coming to town and kicking off their “island escapism” extravaganza at Isleta Amphitheater at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Parrot Heads are known for their tailgating to set the tropical mood hours before Buffett takes the stage.

Tailgating is not allowed at Isleta Amphitheater so The Downs is taking over tailgating duties and hosting the Official Jimmy Buffett Pre-Concert Tailgate Party in its First Turn Lounge, which features an outdoor patio and a fenced in grassy area where you can kick back and enjoy the laid-back vibe. The celebration starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m. and you must be age 21 or older to participate.

The bash, put on by the Official Parrot Heads of New Mexico, will feature live music by Tommy Rocker straight out of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jim Morris as well as B-Man and the Mizzbeehavens. The event will feature several drink specials so order up your favorite margarita concoction and don’t forget that shaker of salt.

Other varieties of tasty, tropical cocktails will be available including Captain Morgan Parrot Bay rum concoctions. If you want to keep it simple, First Turn Lounge also has Landshark Lager to cool your tastebuds.

It wouldn’t be a tailgate without some tasty food, so The Downs is offering up some food specials to calm your hunger.

Tickets for the tailgate are $15 in advance at holdmyticket.com or $20 at the door. Get your tickets early because high attendance is expected.
