Pueblo County officials deny request to make pot products

PUEBLO, Colo. — Pueblo County officials have denied an application by a marijuana grower to change the zoning of its land near Beulah to allow infused products manufacturing.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports (http://bit.ly/1P2fHjT ) the board of commissioners voted unanimously to deny the request by Colorado Natural Health Centers.

The board’s decision came down to the issue of land use and whether the site would be appropriate to support infused products manufacturing. The process involves turning the marijuana plant into concentrated oils that are used to make candies and other edibles.

The vote came after hours of testimony from Beulah residents who said the project wouldn’t fit well with the surrounding community.

Richard Kern, who spoke on behalf of the property owners, acknowledged that those behind the project didn’t do well with community outreach.
