Albuquerque’s Empire Board Game Library is ready to pull an all-nighter for a good cause.

The Nob Hill gaming cafe will host a 24-hour fundraiser this weekend to support the University of New Mexico’s Children’s Hospital.

The marathon runs from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday. Players pay a $5 entrance fee for unlimited gaming throughout the day. All fees collected  will go to the hospital.

The local event is part of a larger gaming day coordinated by the group Extra Life to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals around the country.

Empire Board Game Library owner Rory Veronda said his store has already helped raise about $1,000 for the program, but this weekend represents the big push.

Players don’t have to stay all 24 hours to participate, he said.

In addition to their entry fee, players can also set up fundraising teams or pages through the Extra Life website.

Empire Board Game Library is located at 3503 Central NE. For more information, call 232-4263.
