Sports Speak Up

to Coach Davie and the Lobos. A great finish to a good season. One question. How many guns, knives, or other weapons were seized by security during admission to the AF game and what was done with them?

– BigChris

n I WENT TO the UNM/Air Force football game Saturday night, arriving about 15 minutes before kick-off. Waited in line for less than 2 minutes, afterwards a security guard waved a wand over me, and sent me on my way. What’s all this complaining about the long wait to get in, and when does passing a wand over my body front and back constitute an “invasion of privacy”? Lobo fans, you gripe way too much about inconsequential things.

– Joe, ABQ

n AT THE BEGINNING of the season, I figured if the Lobos could go .500, it would be a very successful year. Then after the loss to San Jose State, the low point of the year, and with what teams they had yet to face, I thought they’d be lucky to win another game. To win three of those remaining four games, and be competitive in the one they lost, was huge. Congratulations to Coach Davie and the entire Lobo football team for this monumental turnaround. Please Lobo fans get behind this team. Pack Lobo stadium December 19th for the NM Bowl, which the Lobos should be in, and support this team. I refuse to believe Albuquerque is strictly a basketball town.

– Bob, UNM Area

n NOW I KNOW why so many of these complainers about no nm kids being on the football team are having a heart attack. First of all it’s coach DAVIE not davies, secondly tell me which players who you believe were D-1 and didnt go to a big time school coach davie missed out on and what other offers did they get. Most went to eastern, western or highlands. Which relative or friend of yours was not selected?? Oh, how many native n.m players are on coach neal’s team.

n NEW MEXICO has the biggest fair weathered fans in the world. Davies has recruited our best players although they go to the bigger schools if he gets our second tier players we would lose every game. Would you then give him a pass for doing so. We all know you would be asking for his head. Davies is a good person and a good coach. You fan’s always will find negative because that’s who you are.

– Vince

n I SERIOUSLY DOUBT the naysayers who claim they didn’t go to the CSU game because UNM didn’t recruit their primo. By the way, please provide the names of all those local players who UNM didn’t recruit who then went elsewhere to star at the Div. I level. I’ll be waiting. Those kids you call “outsiders” proudly wear “New Mexico” on their jersey and their blood, sweat and tears are proudly given on behalf of this state we call home. Finally, for the last time, there is no “s” in Davie. Get a clue.

n PROPS TO Coach Sanchez and her discovery of the “snapping zebra-striped Gator”. Who knew it would be so thin skinned?

n I AM NOT a Bronco fan, but thank you for beating the Cheaters!!
