Angel Fire ready to open Friday

Angel Fire Resort is set to open Friday (Dec. 11), the ski resort says in a news release.

The resort has been taking advantage of the colder temperatures during the past couple of weeks to make snow to get ready for the opening.

Angel Fire’s mountain operations team has been working since late fall on two new terrain parks that will debut on opening day. Liberation Park will have beginning and intermediate features. Plans for a pro line and additional expert features will be added as soon as more snow heads into the area, the resort’s announcement said.

“The colder temperatures are expected to be here by opening day which is great for our crews to make more snow,” Jamie Seifert, mountain operations manager.

“We will continue our efforts in the parks to expand terrain and add more features as conditions warrant. Additionally, we will open more ski trails over the next few weeks. Clearly the more natural snow we can add in is great, but in the meantime, it’s our job to get the mountain ready, so we are focusing our efforts on snowmaking and getting our mountain ready for this season.”

Beginner skiing/snowboarding trails and the Angel Fire Ski School also will all be open starting Friday. Weekend forecasts are calling for additional snow, which would allow the resort to open more trails.
