ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police are investigating a body found in a Northwest Albuquerque middle school’s parking lot Thursday morning, according to a spokesman.

Officer Fred Duran said he didn’t know if police suspect any foul play was involved.

“We don’t know too much about it right now,” he said.

The body was found near Atrisco and Hanover NW, which is near John Adams Middle School. Police were seen investigating inside the school’s parking lot.

Albuquerque Public Schools spokesman Rigo Chavez said the person who died is not an APS staffer, and said he doesn’t believe the death has anything to do with the school or school activities.

“As far as we know it’s not connected at all with the school,” he said.

Children were dropped off on a different side of the school this morning. Other than that, Chavez said school operations shouldn’t be affected by the police investigation.
