APD: Pedestrian critical after hit-and-run

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A silver SUV fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian on Central near Juan Tabo around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, said a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department.

“The male pedestrian crossed the eastbound lanes of Central from north to south,” said officer Daren DeAguero. “As he was doing this, he was struck by a silver SUV in the far right lane.”

He said the man was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Officers had not found the SUV Thursday night and were continuing to investigate the crash, DeAguero said.
