Las Cruces International Film Festival winners announced

In its first year, the Las Cruces International Film Festival had a successful run.

The festival featured films and panels.

It also handed out awards at Cineport 10 in Las Cruces.

The winners are:

Best Narrative Short: “Low/Fi”

Best Doc Short: “Afghan Dreams”

Student Short: “Dyslexia: A College Journey”

Best Screenplay: “French Dirty”

Best Cinematography: “Orphans and Kingdoms”

New Mexico native Ryan Lacen picked up best director and grand jury prize for his film, "The Dust Storm."

Best Documentary: “88 Days in the Motherlode”

Grand Jury: “The Dust Storm”

Shoot Las Cruces Pilot Contest: “My Rosie Life”

Also, “Wolff’s Law,” won the first Sins Of Man Short Film Contest, presented Thursday as part of the festival. “Wolff’s Law,” written and directed by Creative Media Institute alumnus Sheridan O’Donnell, was the recipient of a $5000 grand prize presented by PRC Productions CEO Troy Scoughton Sr., according to a news release.
