BREAKING: Vernal Holiday, Conference Days Will Be Used to Make Up Snow Days

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Winston Brooks told the school board this morning that he will change the district’s plan for making up four school days missed earlier this month.

APS originally planned to make up the days at the end of the school year, but now instead will make them up on the April 22 vernal holiday and two parent-teacher conference days.

The district will apply for a waiver for the fourth day, and if a waiver is not granted, the final day will be added to the end of the school year.

Pick up tomorrow’s Journal for more detail on the reason for the decision, the school board’s comments and the outlook for future school calendars.
