WASHINGTON – Vice President Joe Biden and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will attend Rep. Ben Ray Luján’s second annual Democratic issues conference in Santa Fe this weekend.
Luján, a New Mexico Democrat, is hosting the event, scheduled for Friday through Sunday, in his role as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
“I look forward to welcoming Leader Pelosi, Vice President Biden, and my colleagues to New Mexico for this opportunity to show off the state and all the great things New Mexico has to offer,” Luján said in a statement Tuesday. “From our entrepreneurs to our famous chile, from our world class art to the majestic landscapes, our home is truly the Land of Enchantment.”
Biden will speak to attendees, including Democratic members of Congress and congressional candidates from around the country, on Saturday.
“Over the course of the day, members of Congress will speak to the audience about different issues that they specialize in, and that are also of top concern to voters,” a DCCC aide told the Journal.
The weekend’s festivities begin on Friday evening with a Taste of Santa Fe reception at the Gerald Peters Gallery. On Saturday evening, the group of Democrats will attend a reception at the New Mexico Museum of Art. The events are closed to the public.
