A 4-year-old girl is dead after a two-car crash Friday evening on Tramway NE at Interstate 40, according to Albuquerque police.
APD spokesman Daren DeAguero said the girl, who had been sitting in the back seat of the car, was thrown from the car around 6:30 p.m. She was the only person injured in the crash.
“The child was immediately tended to and was rushed to (University of New Mexico Hospital), where the child later passed away,” DeAguero said.
He said the car the child was riding in was traveling north on Tramway and turned left onto the westbound ramp to the interstate. He said the car turned in front of a car traveling south, causing the crash.
“Alcohol and speed does not appear to be a factor in this case,” DeAguero said.
