ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies arrested Victoria Delgado, 21, early Monday after her 2-year-old son tested positive for meth, KRQE News 13 reported.
Court records showed that Delgado and her husband had gotten into a fight, so she was staying at her mother’s home in the North Valley, along with her 2-year-old son and 9-month-old daughter, News 13 said.
When the boy’s father picked him up, he noticed the toddler was sick, so he took him to Presbyterian Hospital, where the boy tested positive for methamphetamine, according to KRQE.
When deputies went to Delgado’s mother’s home on Garcia Road, they didn’t find Delgado but did find 40-year-old Leonard Lucero, a felon, and found methamphetamine, a stolen car and a gun in Lucero’s possession, KRQE said.
Delgado was later found at a house on Tyler Road NE and was arrested on a charge of child abuse.
She is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on a $5,000 cash or surety bond, according to the MDC website.
