Man Dies After Jumping from Car on I-25 Sunday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Police Department released more information on a man who was found dead on Interstate 25 near Sunport Blvd. Sunday morning.

Carlos Barrio, 27, had been arguing with his wife in her car when he opened the car door and jumped out onto the freeway at 2:30 a.m., according to a police report released Tuesday afternoon.

Barrio’s wife, Roxana Rubio-Arras, 23, told police she had been having ongoing marital problems and had told Barrio that she wanted to leave him before he jumped out of her car. She said she saw a semi hit Barrio before pulling over at the airport entrance where she was approached by police. Officers determined that Rubio-Arras was not impaired at the time of the incident.

I-25 was closed at Rio Bravo while police investigated the incident. Barrio was pronounced dead on scene.
