NM AG releases child porn operation results

The state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force with the state Attorney General’s Office made nearly two dozen arrests in a recent two-month operation targeting offenses against and involving children.

Operation Broken Heart III, which started in April, resulted in 21 arrests on new charges or on arrest warrants for men across the state and one in Texas, Attorney General Hector Balderas said in a statement.

Fifteen of the 21 men arrested were charged with possessing and/or distributing child pornography.

One man was arrested on a charge of making child pornography and then distributing it.

Three men were charged with soliciting a child online then attempting to or actually meeting with them in person.

One man was charged with molesting a relative.

Another man, a former middle school janitor from Farmington, was charged with voyeurism.

The ICAC Task Force serves the whole state, generating their own cases and assisting other law enforcement agencies with electronic forensic analysis of child pornography and exploitation cases.

The office didn’t have initial details about the cost of the operation.
