RUIDOSO DOWNS — Authorities say they have busted a major drug and arms trafficking ring around Ruidoso Downs.
The Alamogordo Daily News reports that a team of law enforcement agencies seized one pound of cocaine, 25 pounds of marijuana, $12,000 in cash, 21 firearms, 5,000 rounds of ammunition and four vehicles during the weekend from a Ruidoso Downs residence.
Forty-one-year-old Anselmo Cardenas Jr. and his 23-year-old relative Ramiro Cardenas were arrested and face trafficking charges after an undercover operation. Authorities said Anselmo’s wife, Rosa Cardenas, was also arrested.
Otero County Sheriff Benny House said authorities believe Anselmo Cardenas Jr. put large quantity of narcotics on the streets of Otero and Lincoln counties.
It was unclear if any of those charged in the case had hire attorneys yet.
