Teenager Dies In Car Accident

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A 16-year-old boy was killed in a collision near Ponderosa and San Mateo NE on Wednesday afternoon.

Albuquerque police identified the victim as David Kidd.

Police said an SUV and a green sedan carrying four teenagers collided at the intersection, causing the sedan to spin into a pole around 1 p.m. The impact caused serious head injuries to Kidd, who was sitting in the rear passenger side of the vehicle, according to police.

Police spokeswoman Tasia Martinez said paramedics who responded found Kidd not breathing with only a faint pulse. Investigators said he died while en route to a local hospital.

The other three teenagers in the sedan were also taken to a local hospital, with injuries that were not life threatening, Martinez said.
