Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies recovered a body in the diversion channel near Fourth and Roy NW Monday afternoon, according a spokeswoman for the Albuquerque Fire Department.
Melissa Romero said the body was spotted around 4:15 p.m. and AFD, the Albuquerque Police Department and APD’s Open Space unit assisted BCSO with the recovery.
“The ID is unknown and cause of death will be determined by OMI (Office of the Medical Investigator),” Romero said.
The discovery comes two days after AFD received 911 calls about someone who had fallen into the water. Crews searched the channel, starting near Interstate 40 and Carlisle NE Saturday but did not find anyone.
