Two people thrown from a motorcycle after a car turned into their lane of traffic remained in critical condition at a local hospital Sunday night.
Albuquerque police said the injured were an adult male driver and a juvenile passenger. Neither was wearing a helmet and their names were not released.
Police said a preliminary investigation of the accident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m. on NM 528 just north of Ellison NW, showed that the motorcycle was driving north on 528 when a vehicle pulled into its path from a private drive, causing the motorcycle driver to lose control. The motorcycle struck a median and slid on its side, and the two riders were thrown from it.
The accident caused the temporary closure of Coors Bypass at Ellison NW.
