Nibbles – La Crepe Michel, A French Café

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — This is a cozy French restaurant that exudes the feel of Old Town, from the heavy wooden front door inside a narrow courtyard, the restaurant’s low ceilings, small rooms and a tree – yes, a tree – butting up against the small table that my friend Pete and I shared.

We split a cup of French onion soup ($3.50) that had a cheesy-bread-crusty layer covering the warming soup.

Pete chose the quiche special ($8.95), which had asparagus and chunks of chicken inside. He called it light, airy and flavorful. It came with a small green salad.

HOURS: 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays

I opted for the sandwich special ($7.95). It came with sliced turkey, melted brie, spinach leaves, sliced cucumbers and coarse Dijon mustard on a crispy baguette. Ooo-la-la-la, as they say. It, too, came with a fresh small green salad.

We each ordered a cafe au lait ($2.95 each). The coffee, topped with steamed milk and sprinkled cinnamon, was quite good.
