Indie power: Santa Fe Festival earns reputation for providing top-quality films

After eight years, the light continues to shine bright for the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival.

It will run from Wednesday, Oct. 19, through Oct. 23 at various locations in Santa Fe.

The festival will open with “Trespass Against Us” and will close with “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise.”

According to organizers, SFIFF has set itself apart by providing top-quality independent films and events in a city known for the arts.

Now in one of the United States’ top theater cities with the opening of Violet Crown and George R.R. Martin’s Jean Cocteau Cinema, SFIFF has become one of Santa Fe’s most anticipated events.

This year, there will be a masters discussion with Paul Barnes and Lee Zlotoff, and the festival will honor the work of Jacqueline Bisset.

The spectacular actress appeared in Francois Truffaut’s “Day for Night” and in “Bullitt” opposite Steve McQueen.

Bisset has worked with directors John Huston, George Cukor and Roman Polanski.

Her co-stars have included Anthony Quinn, Paul Newman, Nick Nolte, Kenneth Branagh and Marcello Mastroianni.

She will be honored on Oct. 22.
