The offices of the New Mexico secretary of state and attorney general said Monday that they will assist county clerks around the state in providing additional support and monitoring of Election Day polling places.
“There will be special agents and prosecutors at different polling sites around the state, at the discretion of the Secretary of State’s Office, to ensure that New Mexicans are able to exercise their right to vote,” said AG’s Office spokesman James Hallinan.
“Election administrators in all counties across the state are well-prepared to ensure the proper conduct of elections,” Secretary of State Brad Winter said. “This partnership between my office and the Office of the Attorney General provides for additional support to county election officials if they need it and further instills trust by the public in the electoral process.”
• Voters who have questions or who observe problems or irregularities at polling places can call the secretary of state’s Election Day hotline at 800-477-3632. They can also call the clerk’s office for the county in which they are voting.
