ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The drop in temperature means cool promotions at The Downs Racetrack & Casino. It also has a whiskey dinner planned to warm you from the inside.
It’s “$120,000 Winning Wheels” Mondays through Fridays this month on The Downs’ casino floor. There will be three winners per drawing at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. for a chance to win up to $1,000. Those selected during each drawing will get a chance to spin the wheel to determine their cash prizes, which range from $75 to $1,000.
Enjoy the “$16,000 Cash Weekends” on Saturdays and Sundays this month. There will be $2,000 awarded each day. Drawings will be held at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. for cash prizes ranging from $50 to $200. Four winners will be selected in each drawing.
Random slot tournaments and the virtual “Downs Derby” promotion will take place randomly this month. There will be random $125 slot tournaments awarding free play prizes to the top 12 scores. The “Downs Derby” will award a total of $100 in free play to be shared by those who place with win, place and show finishes.
Boost your amount of points on your Triple Crown Club card when you play today, Thanksgiving Day, which is Nov. 24, as well as every Wednesday this month. Club members will earn five times the points when they play their favorite games on the designated days. Wednesdays are also “Instant Hit” days. There will be 15 “Instant Hit” drawings held every Wednesday. To be eligible, players must earn 25 base points within 30 minutes before each drawing. All prizes are free play and must be used within 48 hours of a win or the free play will be forfeited.
Be one of the first players to hit the gaming floor on Thursdays this November to be part of the “Early Bird” promotion. Players qualify when they earn 75 base points. A bonus wheel will appear on their game for a chance to win $5 to $500 in free play. The promotion ends when a total of $500 is awarded. Early birds also can get in on half-price breakfast burritos until 11 a.m. on Thursdays.

The Crown Room continues to have unique pairing dinners each month, and this month is no different. It will be offering a Jack Daniel’s whiskey dinner on Thursday, Nov. 17. It will feature a four-course dinner paired with different Jack Daniel’s whiskeys.
The first course of Kentucky tomato bourbon soup will be paired with single-barrel rye. The creamy tomato soup will be infused with Jack Daniel’s whiskey and served with a grilled baguette. Second in line will be seared scallops served on top of green apples with a whiskey lemon-lime butter and smoked radicchio finished with tobiko caviar. It will be accompanied by Gentleman Jack. The third course follows, with a seared pork medallion with oyster mushrooms, orange peel and marjoram leaf served with risotto cake, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus and a whiskey demi-glace. It will be complemented with a special Jack Daniel’s holiday edition Winter Frost Tennessee Cider. Last, a creamy cheesecake infused with Jack Daniel’s whiskey with handcrafted whiskey-whipped cream will sweetly wrap up this fine dinner. It will be served with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey.
