The first event in the three-concert series was scheduled for this evening, according to a news release issued by the city and the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum.
“The Balloon Museum regrets the circulation of any incorrect information about the series,” the statement reads.
Concerts scheduled for Aug. 24 and 31 also have been canceled.
The Cultural Services Department felt that the early response to the series was below what was expected, so the concert series was canceled three weeks ago, according to a department spokesman. There were also issues related to timing and the concerts being scheduled on school nights.
While attempts were made to draw back promotional and advertising spots and online event calendar messages, the attempts were not entirely successful, which is why the department sent out today’s reminder that the concert series has been canceled.
