70-Year-Old Retired Attorney Pleads Guilty in Child Porn Case

A retired attorney has admitted under a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque to receiving a 3 minute, 15 second video depicting an adult male performing sexual acts on a prepubescent female.

Robert A. Warren, 70, of Santa Fe, pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography Monday under the plea agreement when he appeared before U.S. District Judge Bruce D. Black, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

The news release said Warren could face five to 20 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000 and a lifetime term of supervised release. Under terms of the plea agreement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office agreed to recommend a prison term of at least five years and not more than nine years. Warren also would be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Warren, who was indicted July 22, 2009, on federal receipt of child pornography charges, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service immediately after entering his guilty plea.

The news release said that according to the plea agreement, the FBI recovered multiple computers and computer-related media (hard drives, compact disks, printed images) containing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct (child pornography) when agents searched Warren’s residence on June 18, 2008.

The plea agreement indicates that forensic examination of Warren’s computers and computer media uncovered more than 2,600 images and 26 videos of child pornography, the news release said.
