The Carlsbad Current-Argus reported that the child was found in a 30-foot-deep hole at about 7 a.m. Sunday.

Crews are digging at a slope so the walls of the hole do not collapse as they work to recover the child’s body.

Samuel was last seen Saturday afternoon. The hole is near the backyard where he disappeared.
