UPDATED: Early Morning SWAT Situation Ends Peacefully

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An Albuquerque man who repeatedly fired a gun from his home on the West Side was taken into custody early this morning.

Troy Hartman, age 23 or 24, fired numerous rounds from his home in the 6900 block of El Cajon Court NW, near Taylor Ranch and Golf Course, at around 1:30 a.m., APD said.

Police arrived, and Hartman fired two more rounds. They spotted the man hiding behind a wall at the home, but when officers tried to contact him, he ran inside the home.

APD tried to get Hartman to open the door, but he wouldn’t, APD said. Officers noticed shell casings next to the door.

After two more gunshots were heard, officers set up a perimeter. Hartman opened the garage door and fired one more round.

SWAT was called to the scene, and Hartman was taken into custody without incident. Police reported they had the man in custody as of 7:30 a.m.
