UPDATED: Crashes Plague ABQ Metro Area

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — 9:24am UPDATE: NMDOT cameras are showing that the crash on westbound I-40 near Carlisle has been moved to the side of the road, and traffic is now moving normally.

The traffic map also shows all the accidents in the metro area have been cleared.


8:48am UPDATE: Traffic on westbound Interstate 40 is now backed up to Wyoming as a result of the four-car crash between Carlisle and San Mateo that is turning the interstate into what KKOB Radio is calling a “parking lot.”

Drivers need to find an alternate route.

8:38am UPDATE: New crash being reported on westbound Interstate 40 between Carlisle and San Mateo involves four cars and has traffic backed up past San Pedro, KKOB’s Gemma Knight is reporting. According to, the right three lanes are blocked.

Another crash is being reported on the DOT website on northbound Interstate 25 at Isleta Pueblo, with the right lane blocked.

KKOB also is reporting a crash on the westbound I-40 flyover at the interchange.

Earlier, police were reported on scene at Edith and Comanche with a car blocking the intersection, as well as a collision on southbound I-25 at Comanche.

8:18am UPDATE: New collision involving several vehicles being reported on eastbound Rio Bravo at the river, according to KKOB.

Police and paramedics are on scene at a two-vehicle collision at Girard and Lomas NE, according to KKOB Radio’s traffic reporter Gemma Knight.

No word yet on injuries or the cause of the accident.

The accident was reported at 7:32 a.m., according to’s traffic conditions roadmap.

Crashes are also being reported on northbound Interstate 25, south of N.M. 47, where both the left- and right-hand lanes are blocked, and on southbound 2nd Street at Osuna NW, where the left turn lane is blocked, according to KKOB.
