PHOENIX — The state Board of Regents has announced two finalists for the president’s job at the University of Arizona.
After a special meeting Tuesday in Phoenix, the regents identified the two as Dr. Sethuraman “Panch” Panchanathan and Dr. Robert Clayton Robbins.
Panchanathan is the executive vice president and chief research and innovation officer of Arizona State University’s Knowledge Enterprise Development while Robbins is president and chief executive officer of Texas Medical Center.
Board officials say both men will be interviewed soon and the top candidate will visit the Tucson campus on March 8.
UA President Ann Weaver Hart is serving out the remainder of her contract that expires in June 2018.
Hart became the university’s 21st president in 2012 and says she’ll remain at the helm until a replacement is named.
