ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Construction is finally kicking up again at The Corner — and the newest addition to the Winrock Town Center landscape will bring with it a series of new dining options.
The team behind Azuma Sushi & Teppan will join the project with a new restaurant called Takumi, according to Winrock’s leasing broker, Anthony Johnson. Takumi will occupy about 5,200 square feet, taking the largest suite at the half-finished 22,000-square-foot building.
Firehouse Subs has also signed onto The Corner, which is located on the north side of the Winrock property just behind Garduño’s.
The eateries will join previously announced tenants like Sauce Pizza & Wine, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based chain; and the locally owned Old Town Olive store and Mark Pardo SalonSpa. Johnson said he also has a lease pending with another restaurant — described as a new-to-market fast casual chain — for one of the remaining suites.
That will leave three suites totalling about 5,000 square feet to lease.
Physical progress on The Corner mostly stopped a couple months ago, something Darin Sand of Winrock’s developer, Goodman Realty Group, attributed to time spent honing design elements with individual tenants and Modulus Architects.
But Johnson said construction is resuming this week for what he called “the final push” to complete the building. He estimated that tenants should get access to their suites by mid-April and start opening this summer.
