President Nominates Clovis Native To Appeals Court Bench

UNM law school graduate and former ABQ lawyer Jimmie V. Reyna is now a partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm

Clovis native and University of New Mexico School of Law graduate Jimmie V. Reyna has been nominated by President Barack Obama to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Reyna, a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm Williams Mullen, is a former president of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and was the Hispanic National Bar Association president in 2006-2007.

Reyna, who directs his firm’s international trade and customs practice group and its Latin America Task Force, advises clients in cross-border commerce. He serves on the U.S. roster of dispute settlement panelists for the North American Free Trade Agreement and the World Trade Organization.

He practiced law in Albuquerque for about 10 years before moving to Washington, D.C., in search of better services for a son with autism.
