New Call Hours for Workforce Solutions

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Beginning Monday, the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ Unemployment Insurance call center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to a news release.

Self-service options through the 1-877-NM4-MYUI (1-877-664-6984) toll-free number will remain available 24 hours a day, the release said.

The call center hours originally went from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, requiring various shifts for call center customer service representatives, and the change will increase the number of workers available to take calls during what had been shift changes, according to the release.

“Even during this typical peak season of Unemployment Insurance claims, we have seen average wait times under 10 minutes, and this adjustment to the hours of operation will support the lower wait times in a more resourceful, effective manner,” Workforce Solutions Secretary Celine Bussey said in the release.

In addition to the change in call center hours, the online claims system will come down at 4 p.m. every Saturday in preparation for the implementation of  the new tax and claim system that will go into effect in the fall of 2012.

The Unemployment Insurance system is regularly available online at from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily — now except for Saturday evenings, according to the release.
