Bringing together people who are ambitious about health and passionate about wine is what Wellness + Wine is all about.

Wellness + Wine classes are intended to create a community connection while strengthening the mind, body and spirit in a relaxing atmosphere at Casa Rondeña Winery, according to program director Colleen Constance Franco.

“I love to take Pilates and yoga,” Franco said. “I’ve met some amazing instructors, and I’ve met some amazing people just going to those classes. So when this concept was created, I thought, I want to get these five instructors on board, and I want them each to bring their own piece to it. It’s not just yoga. It’s not just Pilates. It could be tai chi, it could be chi gung, it could be art classes, it could be anything that’s under that umbrella of what wellness means.”

There will be five classes each month led by five instructors. Classes will be held at different times and at different sites on the Casa Rondeña grounds. The instructors are Jolene Madrid, Breeze Sansom, Keisha Wixom, Angela Hanchett and Danielle Schlichte. Astronomer David Mayschak will join Keisha Wixom during Yoga Under the Stars on April 11. Mayschak will explain what is going on in the starry skies above as Wixom leads participants in a yoga session.

“We want people to take the class seriously, as well as the wine, so we don’t drink during class,” Franco said. “… We want them to be completely separate because we want them to understand that these are serious instructors teaching very beautiful classes.”

There are plans to offer a healthy-cooking class as well as incorporate massage, acupuncture and even a fashion show into the Wellness + Wine classes.

“We’re definitely turning this concept into events that you know you learn,” Franco said. “I don’t want to call it education, because I don’t want to go that route. I want it to be something where you take something away with you. You’ve learned something else about this great lifestyle, all in addition to the wonderful parts of what Casa Rondeña is. It’s a place that you become a member of to relax, to get out of the craziness of the world.”

Franco also has plans to take Wellness + Wine to the Napa Valley and beyond.

“I plan to take our wellness program on the road, introducing Casa Rondeña Winery and its wellness instructors to Napa Valley, eventually even utilizing our international contacts,” she said.
