ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Forghedaboudit Pizza in Deming won first-place in the “traditional” category for the southwest region at the Annual International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, Nev., last weekend.
It also took second-place nationally and fourth-place in the “world traditional” category.
The expo featured 60 other pizza eateries from around the world competing in six categories.
This is not the first time Forghedaboudit Pizza has received accolades since it opened its doors in 2013. It also won second place for its Maple Bacon Wings at the Buffalo Wing Festival, an invite-only competition held last September in Buffalo, N.Y.
Owner Robert Yacone, a New York transplant said, “This is a New Mexico win, not just a Bob Yacone win. We competed against the top restaurants from around the world. So we got bragging rights.”
