ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Former Lobo soccer player Pat Grange has lost his battle with ALS.
The Albuquerque High graduate who played for the Lobos in 2003 and 2004 died Tuesday, according to UNM soccer head coach Jeremy Fishbein. He was 29.
Grange’s battle with the incurable neurodegenerative disease rallied his former New Mexico teammates and the larger soccer community, sparking a wave of fundraisers and benefits.
Fishbein said Grange was the type of man who inspired such goodwill.
“He was just a happy guy. Everybody always felt better around him and he always brought joy to the room,” Fishbein said Wednesday morning. “He was a positive person, somebody you want to be around.”
