Larry Chavez Sr.’s Dream week continued Saturday, and the University of New Mexico continues to benefit.

After Wednesday’s announcement that Chavez, the owner of Dreamstyle Remodeling, would give $10 million over 10 years to UNM and get naming rights for University Stadium and the Pit, he placed a bet at The Downs at Albuquerque for $100 on Always Dreaming to win Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.

It paid $570 — he showed the Journal a copy of the winning ticket. He plans to contribute $175 to UNM Children’s Hospital, $175 to Popejoy Hall and $175 to UNM’s Anderson School of Management.

“The remaining $45 is pizza for DreamStyle employees,” Chavez wrote in an email.
