Artist Laura Robbins explores 'Healing Dreams' at Wild Hearts Gallery
Artist Laura Robbins delves into an internal world, reimagining childhood stories through mosaic in “Healing Dreams,” the latest exhibit open at the Wild Hearts Gallery in Placitas.
Robbins said that the artwork is about “moving on and looking at something that was traumatic when I was a kid and saying, OK, but here I am now.”
“I retell and reimagine my childhood stories,” Robbins said.
“Healing Dreams” is on display through Oct. 26.
She said she used the theme of “Healing Dreams” to reflect on her past and acknowledge who she has become.
“The place that I’m at right now, I feel like, is such a very wonderfully, spiritual place,” Robbins said.
Nine pieces will be on display, and Robbins said everything is either glass or high-fired ceramic.
“A great piece of the art process for me is just constantly being surprised and not knowing what I’m doing,” Robbins said.
Robbins said she hopes the exhibit delivers the message that people should be “responsible for their own emotional viewpoints and not blame others and not feel that they’re a victim.”
Robbins said “Healing Dreams” was her way of facing the issue of emotional responsibility head-on, using art to examine her own personal story.
“It was never to make money. It was never really to portray the world,” Robbins said. “It was always an internal journey.”
