To all the Argus Hamilton readers out there:

Published Modified

By now you may have noticed that we are no longer running his comedy column. We’ve received a lot of responses, both positive and negative, in reaction to this move, and so I wanted to take this space as the brand-new executive editor of the Journal to explain my decision.

As you will see in the coming weeks and months, we are refocusing our attention to New Mexico. We are cutting, or reducing, pretty much all syndicated content and, instead, looking at the world through a local lens. This includes Argus Hamilton.

We have many fine comedians here in New Mexico and we’ll be recruiting one — or a few — of them to fill this column. So, if you’re a comedian in New Mexico and feel you could write for a family-friendly paper, feel free to reach out!

I’d say watch this space, but we will also be moving the column to another section of the paper. It honestly should never have been on our Nation and World news page and, I believe, will fit in better in the Opinion section.

I know some of you will miss Hamilton, but I do hope that you find more in our pages to inform, engage and, yes, entertain than his nine daily sentences from California.
