ABQ’s second Cavender’s hosts grand opening on Saturday
Boots were made for walking and celebrating at the West Side Cavender’s this weekend.
The retailer, known for its wide selection of handcrafted boots and Western wear, celebrated the grand opening of its newest Albuquerque location on Saturday. The store, located at 3821 Ellison NW, is Albuquerque’s second Cavender’s location.
Formerly a CVS that closed in 2021, the store actually opened its doors in April. Saturday’s event commemorated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, exclusive offers, prizes and opportunities to join the brand’s loyalty rewards program.
The opening comes during Cavender’s 60th year in business. The Texas-based retailer, founded in 1965, sells brands such as Tony Lama, Lucchese, Laredo, Rocky Mountain and Wrangler in over 100 stores across 15 states. Albuquerque’s first Cavender’s opened at 1431-A Mercantile NE in 2014.
The new store is on the corner of Coors and Ellison NW and offers personalized services including boot fitting, hat shaping and boot stretching.
Jordan Pruitt, one of the managers at the new location, said the store has made Western-wear shopping more “convenient” for Cavender’s customers living on the West Side, including himself.
“This is how I grew up,” Pruitt said while wearing a cowboy hat and boots. “There’s nothing like nice boots.”
The location is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12-6 p.m. Sunday.
