Anderson School of Management to wrap up entrepreneur program with Santa Fe event
The Anderson School of Management at UNM
Mark your calendar for June 6. That’s when the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management’s Center for Responsible Entrepreneurship will have a series of events in Santa Fe as UNM wraps up its 10-month entrepreneur accelerator program.
The program’s purpose was to help launch new businesses in northern New Mexico. The wrap-up includes a chance to hear from twelve entrepreneurs looking to launch new ventures.
The ideas from these local entrepreneurs range from a food truck in Navajo communities to sustainable, refillable sunscreen solutions to compostable toilet options and a digital art market for Native Americans. The session is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Those final pitches will take place from 1-4 p.m., followed by a Beyond Profit panel discussion in partnership with Creative Santa Fe from 5-7:30 p.m. titled “Changing How we Invest to Unlock Better Human Outcomes.” A networking reception with established entrepreneurs from northern New Mexico will follow.
A panel will select the top three most compelling business pitches to receive special recognition. The six-minute pitches are open to the community, and the review panel includes Bridget Dixon (Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce), Ward Hendon (Dangerous Ventures), and Drew Tulchin (NM Angels).
The evening session will explore impact investing and corporate responsibility on ESG issues — environmental, societal and governance. Mel Dubin with Deloitte and Jake Walko with Thornburg Investment Management will offer their insights, along with a conversation facilitated by Reilly White, UNM Anderson’s associate dean and associate professor of finance. It includes a celebration of the participating entrepreneurs and mentors.
Attendees can expand their professional networks by meeting Anderson faculty, students and entrepreneurs and hear firsthand about new companies launching in their area. Refreshments will be served throughout the events.
The Beyond Profit series is co-presented by UNM Anderson School Center for Responsible Entrepreneurship and Creative Santa Fe, with the City of Santa Fe Office of Economic Development as the series sponsor.
This speaker series is free to the public, but a $25 donation per attendee is suggested. Proceeds support the Center for Responsible Entrepreneurship and Creative Santa Fe’s community engagement activities.
